How to Use Slack to Notify Travelers About Their Rides
Connect SeatMax to your Slack workspace in one click. DM ride assignments, use slash commands, and keep Planners informed — all without email.
Why Slack for event coordination
Most corporate events already have a Slack channel. Email gets buried. Group texts get messy. Slack is where your team actually pays attention.
SeatMax integrates directly with your Slack workspace. Once connected, it can DM each traveler their ride assignment, notify Planners of flight changes, and let Riders check their ride details with a slash command — all without leaving Slack.
Setting up the integration
From your SeatMax organization settings, click "Connect Slack." You'll be redirected to Slack's OAuth flow — pick your workspace and authorize SeatMax.
That's it. SeatMax can now:
- DM travelers — Each Rider gets a direct message with their vehicle assignment, Captain name, co-riders, and pickup zone
- Notify Planners — Flight changes, disruptions, and daily digests go to the Planner's DMs or a designated channel
- Accept slash commands — Riders type /seatmax rides to check their assignment. Planners type /seatmax stats for a quick event summary.

Slash commands
SeatMax supports three slash commands:
- /seatmax rides — Shows the Rider their current ride assignment, Captain, pickup zone, and co-riders
- /seatmax stats — Shows the Planner a quick summary: total travelers, vehicles assigned, estimated savings
- /seatmax login — Generates a magic link to the SeatMax web app (Planner or Rider dashboard, depending on role)
Slash commands work in any channel or DM. The response is only visible to the person who used the command (ephemeral message), so there's no spam.
Notification preferences
Planners can configure exactly which events trigger Slack notifications:
- Flight delays and cancellations - New travelers added - Grouping changes - Day-of status updates
Choose Slack, email, or both per notification type. Stay informed without drowning in alerts.
